Math Department Goals
Increase proficiency in California math standards for all students through the following offerings:

A variety of high-quality math courses both online and at the resource centers for students in 3rd - 12th grades

Drop-in tutoring at the school’s resource centers, or online, to assist students and parents with math-related questions

Enrichment opportunities for students in grades 6-12 such as math competitions and the CWCS Math Club

Training, resources and coaching for parents and ESs to increase rigor and implementation of state standards in mathematics

Development and promotion of "I CANs" resources for grades K-8

Intensive instruction in a variety of formats for struggling students through the High School Intensive Pre-Algebra and Algebra program
Implement the Connecting Waters Math Placement Policy & Algebra 1 Completion Guidelines for Middle School and High School for the following purposes:

Ensure that multiple measures of student performance are utilized to determine equitable next-course placement for middle and high school students

Use local and state data to ensure that all 9th - 12th grade students who are not performing at grade level in math have Effective Educator oversight and support to prepare for and demonstrate proficiency in Algebra 1 standards

Maintain alignment with federal and state legislation regarding Algebra 1 and middle/high school math placement
