Focus Agenda

Gary will edit agenda combining agenda items 1 and 3 to make it clear that groups have been assigned a specific task.

Review Schoolwide Action Plan

Goal 1

Task

1.     Question mark will be reviewed after focus groups make recommendations.

10% is too vague. Other wording options could be;

v    Increase overall student reading CST Comprehension scores by 10% to proficient.

v    Students who are below basic or basic working to improve by 10% toward being proficient.

v    Increase below basic or basic reading comprehension scores 10% toward proficient

These are improvements per year.

Should the timeline be broken down by grade groupings? Or should we look at

all grades? Sherri and Marsha think we should look at all grades.

2. This one is about finding something to help us determine the reading level. We

currently use the WRAT test and are examining online programs

3.Perhaps below grade level needs to be better defined. A percent cutoff could be used to determine when intervention is needed. Intervention is challenging from a distance and we will need to be creative.

6. We donŐt have writing prompts for benchmark test.

8a. It would be better to use the word resource instead of options.

Goal 2

Task

  1. Evaluating student curriculum to align it to standards
  1. We want teachers to be more proficient at evaluating students learning styles and matching curriculum

6. There is not percentage to determine when intervention is needed or defined sub steps to intervention.

Goal 3

Task

  1. Task needs to be reworded. Increase test sight accessibility to all students

There are currently 3 candidates for English Language specialist.

Dave and Theresa have a couple of leads for the Math Specialist.

Pertinent Dates

Visiting Dates March 6, 7, 8, 9,

The first day is March 6. The leadership team will be asked to come for this initial meeting. At some of these first meetings it is like an informal reception with teachers, parents, leadership and focus groups all represented. We will plan that further later.

Sherri will make modifications to the action plan based on this meeting.

The next meeting is February 14, 2005
