CW Leadership Meeting Notes
June 13, 2005
Attendance: Rolff Christensen, Theresa Myers, Catherine Miller, Sherri Nelson, David Moll, Cher Silva, Ingrid Kiehl, Marsha Silva, Mary Halter, Susan Self
Facilitator: Gary Clark
The ESLR committee met by phone conference to discuss reducing the number of ESLRS and to develop ways to communicate ESLRS. After some discussion CW may keep the number of ESLRS but work on strategies to be sure teachers, parents and students know them. One suggestion was to tie them to the growth areas that they match. Another suggestion was referring to Growth Area/ESLRS in all communication. The Growth Area/ESLRS should be in the handbook, newsletter and part of ES training meetings.
This committee had a phone conference in April. They also worked on including the ESLRS in the curriculum analysis. Committee members were assigned specific curriculum that says it is standards based to see if it meets all the standards. They will then develop and recommend a list of curriculum that meets all the standards.
This committee is working on Pre/Post Testing. They have looked at test by STAR, NWEA and Scantron. Scantron seems to be the best choice for our school because of the web test. They have also developed a shorter test.
Deborah Kutz and Mary Halter are looking at a test that works with Edusoft and test higher-level math. This is a free diagnostic test that could help determine where a student should be placed and what curriculum to use. Contact Deborah about information for the newsletter or ES training.
A Parent list serve has been set up by geographical areas. Jenni Retzloff will be the moderator that will filter emails before they are sent. Jenni could write a blurb about the list serve for the newsletter. Sherri and John are looking into a new phone system for CW that will have caller options much like the Advisor line but with an option to talk to an operator. Gary is looking into forms and surveys online.
These areas are being adjusted as the other committees develop their plans.
The next meeting will be August 22, 2005 at 10:30 AM.
