  1. The group reviewed the ELA and Math Interventions steps from the Home group meeting.

 

ELA Interventions

 

¯    There should be an assessment of childÕs developmental/environmental readiness to read

¯    Provide a check list/questionnaire for readiness

 

¯    Provide incentives for reading

¤       Reading contest where the student receives coupons for success

¤       Award plaques for achieving reading goals

¤       Book it program

Sing, Spell, Read & Write

Zoo Phonics

The Phonics Program for older students

 

Grammar:

Shurley English for all grades (suggested for grades 3 and above)

 

 

MATHEMATICS

Suggestions:

Provide tricks for students to remember math short cuts

Provide list of common STAR language that might be used on test

  1. What can we do to support efforts in these interventions?

¯    Education Specialists can provide more help to parents. Ask parents if they need help in anyway.

 

 

  1. Parents reviewed data portion of demographics of the Self Study Community Profile and made suggestions.

¯    A chart should be provided that shows our student involvement in outside activities such as: vocational, music, art, etc.
