The Mountain Focus Group met Monday, January 24, 2005. They were quite
impressed when they reviewed their assigned Goal #1: Improve Student Achievement
in Reading and Writing.
Their objective this month was to discuss each task and note suggestions or
comments in each of the ESLRs addressed in their area.
In Tasks --
#1 the Mountain Group felt it was unnecessary to increase all students reading
comprehension CST scores by 10% because many of our students already score are
above grade level. Therefore: they felt additional wording for Task #1 should
be “Increase all students reading comprehension CST scores by 10 % for students
performing below grade level.
#1 “Means to Assess Improvement” needs to add: Linda Mood Bell Method. This
program is best for those below grade level.
#1 Timeline should add: Gr. 5-11
#1 Cost should add: Gander Publishing, $225 for Reading and Vocabulary, and
$400 for whole course set.

The Mountain Focus group concluded their meeting wondering when they would hear
the verdict on our school being accredited .
