In the Ethnicity graph: compared with all students in California schools? We
have nothing to compare this with noted in the graph heading.
Can the Student Enrollment be expressed as percents? Can the Declined to
State be changed to dots, stripes, or bigger squares; more contrast in colors?
Notes:
How can our "at-risk" students be included, yet our scores show as
good? None of us want to say that we're just biding time until the school
closes because of our low achievement.
How do we get tough to attain adequate progress?
We need to offer vision/hearing tests with our district.
Valley Oak does dyslexia testing.

Often good students have parents that sign waivers; we definitely need to
get those good students to test or we'll be closed.
We need to be able to allow our students to take more than 40 credits because
bright students may not stay with us if they are limited. We need to be
able to attract those super bright kids. Those with A-G courses--we need
more motivations to keep them here; incentives such as more money in their accounts
for tutoring and test books.
What about parents that bring a disruptive child to test?
We may get our 95% but have a terrible time proctoring because one or more students
may refuse to cooperate.
Some ideas for testing rewards:
movie pass
parent motivation such as gift certificate to GW
large raffle (eletronics--CD player, etc.)
tickets for behavior
motivation for high scores
Perhaps we should have fund raisers.
We heard that test booklets will have student's names on them.
We heard that rules will be read at test and prior to test in homes.
Does taking part of the test (but not completing because not attending or leaving
early for illness, etc.) count as part of our 95%?
On page 14, Where Do Our Students Come From? Those from alternate schools
and traditional public schools are largely those who have failed in the classroom
setting.
We would like to see a breakdown in STAR/CAT6 and CAHSEE scores by where
the students have come from, from what school setting before they came to us.
