Connecting Waters Charter School
November 3, 2008

Judy Orr,

Bjevlovitie (Vice President), Neriah Howard, Niah Howard, Andrea Troglione,
Arianna Troglione, Olivia Melendez (Secretary),
Kayla Howard, Laura Howard, Laura Mclullough, and Mrs. Troglione.
Icebreaker:
Everyone
says their name, age, and how long they have been with Connecting Waters.
Old
Business
· Minutes were read by
Olivia the secretary, and were approved by the council members.
Prom
Committee’s Reports:
·
The
price range for prom tickets will vary from $50-$65 without any fundraisers.
·
Cookbook
fundraiser was approved. We need to sell at LEAST 100 cookbooks. Fundraiser
will end at the end of November.
·
Mrs.
Orr was thinking about the Avon fundraiser.
·
Considering
presale of prom tickets to find the amount of people coming and to help with a
down payment if necessary.
·
The
prom has to be a Saturday, which means we will have to reserve the place really
soon. Or as soon as possible.
·
Considering
different locations. The Modesto Learning Center, a hotel, or any place near
the freeway. Anyone with any ideas should e-mail Mrs. Orr and bring to the next
meeting.
·
Learning
Center may have some restrictions like no food allowed. Arianna and Andrea will
be e-mailing Mrs. Nelson about having food in the learning center.
·
Mrs.
Troglione will be receiving information from what the cost, average amount of
people, and other ideas from past proms.
·
E-mail
Mrs. Orr and Mrs. Troglione if anyone has any ideas about a DJ, locations,
theme, caterers, etc…
·
Mrs.
Troglione’s e-mail address is hebrews12one@pacbell.net.
·
Mrs.
Orr and Mrs. Troglione are considering interviewing people for catering who
they may know who can.
·
Hotel’s
so far around the area are around $500 to rent a room for the night, which
comes with security, tables, chairs, a dance floor, but excludes dishes and
utensils. That comes with an extra cost per person. Almost $42.
·
Mrs.
Orr is going to ask Mrs. Porter about people ordering the fundraiser items
through the list serve.
·
Order
sheets for the fundraiser should be coming in soon. So be looking this week at
your e-mails for when the can be picked up at the learning center.
Sweatshirts:
·
Sweaters
that Mrs. Orr found are $10. We can sell them for $15 for a $5 profit.
·
Council
agreed on hooded pullover sweatshirts that are gray with blue print and logo.
·
Mrs.
Orr will be checking prices for the hooded pullover sweatshirts. She will also
will be checking quality of the sweatshirts and e-mail the prices.
·
Council
decided that they want sweaters that are in the $15 -$20 price range. There can
possibly be a $5 profit.
Pizza
Social:
·
Our
treasurer Mackenzie Farruggia asked the front desk , during the meeting, if
homemade desserts were approved to bring
to social events. We received a no to our question. Store bought only!
·
The
ice cream part was tossed to the side due to the weather and the amount of
people that might show up. Although we are keeping the pizza part of the
social.
·
The
date has been set for December the 6th at Modesto Learning Center.
Mrs. Orr will be asking Mrs. Nelson if this time would be all right for her. If
not Mrs. Orr will also present November 22nd and December 13th as
possibilities.
·
Janelle
will be asking Little Caesar’s for donations of pizza and soda. Costco will be
a backup plan for pizza.
·
Mrs.
Orr will be e-mailing the letter of request with the CWCS head lettering on it.
·
Soda
will be Sprite and Root beer.
·
The
pizzas will be cheese and pepperoni.
·
For
dessert we will offer cookies. Preferable chocolate chip and sugar cookies.
Mrs. Orr will be checking for donations from Save Mart on Pelandale, right down
the street from the Modesto Learning Center.
·
We
will be asking $2 from people for a piece of pizza, a cup of soda, and 2
cookies.
·
The
time will be from 12PM- 2PM.
·
Mrs.
Orr will be donating plates and cups. Olivia will be donating napkins.
·
Next
meeting we will be discussing the issue over the ice.
Student
List Serve
·
Catharina
and Mrs. Porter will start the student list serve this Friday.
·
A
notice will be going into parent list serve about the student list serve.
·
Catharina
will be updating the list serve.
New
Business
Senior
Events:
·
One
event that was agreed upon was a Boomers social for the seniors.
Greeter
for the Parent Workshop:
·
The
Parent workshop is Feb 20th in Stockton.
·
Mrs.
Nelson would like to see student volunteers and greeters for the event.
·
Request
if anyone would like to volunteer.
Minutes
of the Meetings:
·
An idea was approved by Mrs. Orr that everyone
should be sent to last meetings minutes before the next one for everyone to
read. Then is anyone has any changes that they think should be made then they
can bring the information at the next meeting. This will save on time during
the meetings. Mrs. Orr will be e-mailing us the minutes.
