Student Council Minutes

Present:
Judy Orr,
Janelle Ensland (President), Mackenzie Farruggia (Treasurer), Catharina B.
(Vice President), Neriah Howard, Niah Howard, Andrea Troglione, Ariana
Troglione, and Olivia Melendez (Secretary).
Icebreaker:
Everyone
picked three skittles. Each color was a question that each member had to answer
about herself.
New
Business
Student
Council Leadership Meeting:
·
Mackenzie
and Janelle went to the meeting last week. They learned about teamwork,
leadership, and understanding your teammates.
Establishment
of Quorum, and Voting Precedence (majority or 2/3?):
·
Catharina
motioned for two officers and one student council member is needed to conduct a
meeting. All ideas and plans that are mentioned will be e-mailed and/or
forwarded to officers and members. Decisions will be made the following
meeting. The President Janelle approved. Olivia second
it. * Motion was passed.
·
Meetings
could be online if there is a major emergency.
·
Catharina
motioned for ideas to be approved and passed by the President and Council
Members, with a majority vote sealing the idea. * Motion was passed.
Prom:
·
Andrea,
Ariana, and Neriah are our prom committee. Our prom committee will be bringing
back information next meeting about the following: Prices, Budget Ideas, Theme,
Decorations, DJ, Utensils and Items for meals, and Locations.
·
Student
Council members should be brainstorming about fundraising ideas.
·
Mrs.
Orr will be checking in to see about funding from Parent Council.
Sweatshirts:
·
The
major decisions were tabled to next month’s meeting.
·
A
motion was passed by the group to ask, the following month, about borrowing
Worldstride’s t- shirt design (if no one can agree on any sweatshirt design
ideas).
·
Mrs.
Orr will find the profit of the Worldstride t-shirt sale.
·
Spring
T-shirts were considered.
·
The
shirts or sweatshirts are for the student body.
·
This
is to help fund the Student Council.
·
Everyone
should try to bring information for sweatshirts/ t-shirts. Information like
designs, cost, where found, time period for making and delivery, and venders.
Meetings:
·
Maybe
next semester there will be some consideration about voting in the following
year’s members. So that meetings can begin in August or September.
Red
Ribbon Week
·
Red
Ribbon week takes place Oct. 23 -31.
·
Tabled
to next semester around March and April for the following year.
Movies
Night/ Social Events
·
Ice
Cream/ Pizza/ Game Night
-
Plan
event for some time in November.

Next
meeting anyone can bring ideas for places, ice cream, flavors, etc..

Brainstorm
Locations between this meeting and the November meeting and bring results.

Considering
pitching in money.

Considering
everyone bringing ice cream and toppings.

Next
Meeting will discuss the serving amount and price.

Mrs.
Orr will be asking Mrs. Lori about starting off with a sum of money for the
Student Council group to use for events.

Next
meeting will discuss different social ideas for throughout the year.

Janelle
will be checking pizza prices.

Neriah
and Niah will check ice cream prices.

Mackenzie
and Olivia will check on ice cream and pizza prices from Cosco.

Everyone
will also ask about donations.

Night has been declined for the time being.
Student
List Serve

Catharina
will be e-mailing Mrs. Orr and Mrs. Nelson requesting the permission in
starting a Student List Serve, which would contain the following:
