CWCS March Newsletter

By Sherri Nelson, Director

I just wanted to let you know that we had our initial visit with Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Tuesday, March 4th from 9:00 am to 3:00 in the afternoon.

I know that pride is not a good thing but for lack of a better word...you should all be proud to be enrolled in an IEM school!  I believe that it would have been very difficult for any first year school to be ready for an initial visit this soon without the IEM support!

We had participation from wonderful ESs, fantastic parents, students, IEM and District leadership.  It was a wonderful meeting!

One of the possible recommendations to the Accrediting Commission regarding the status of our school would be Candidacy or Denial.  I believe that we will receive Candidacy!  Once we receive candidacy we can put on our transcripts: Approved Candidate for Accreditation, Western Association of Schools and Colleges.  As soon as we are contacted I will let you know.

One of the requests of WASC was that I submit some of the outstanding accomplishments/achievements of our students.  Our students are amazing!  Let me share a few of the accomplishments:

á       One student received the highest score in the Waterford Unified School District on the PSAT

á       One student was accepted into West Point

á       One student is a coach for the boys YMCA disadvantaged youth

á       One student was accepted into the Institute of interior Design in Arizona

á       One student was awarded first place in a national writing contest
