Director
Welcome to the 2002/03 school year! I hope that all of you
have gotten off to a great start. As
you know Connecting Waters Charter School (CWCS) is sponsored by the Waterford
School District and is managed by Innovative Education Management (IEM). “We
believe in honoring individual education choices; therefore we commit to
providing an innovative public education environment for students, their
parents and teachers by empowering them to collaboratively create learning
opportunities which will develop responsible and contributing members of
society.” Your Education Specialist is
available to provide your student with an individual education plan that will
achieve optimum learning for your student.
Our Charter School
will be governed by a Parent Council which will consist of 29 parents of CWCS
students. Our meetings will take place
at least quarterly in the Waterford School district. Thus, I am requesting those interested in participating in the
initial Parent Council to respond by calling our office so that your name can
be placed in a lottery of those to be chosen.
Please respond by calling the office as soon as possible and leave your
name, student’s name and your telephone number. We will notify you if you are selected to serve on the initial
Parent Council. Our first parent
council meeting will be on September 10 at 6:30 pm in the Conference Center
located at 219 N. Reinway Avenue behind the Headstart building.
It was wonderful
meeting many of you at our Parent Orientation, Aug. 27th. If you were unable to attend and have
questions about the classes that are available at the Manteca or Modesto
Learning Center please call the center.
We would also like
to gather names of students who would be interested in working on a yearbook
committee. If you are interested in
working on this committee please call the Waterford office. Please mark your calendar for the Lifetouch
Yearbook Picture Day, Tuesday, September 17 at the Modesto Learning
Center. Please call (209-541-1531) the
center to schedule your appointment.
Remember, if we have at least 50 students participating, the yearbook
picture and ID cards are free!
The California High
School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) will be
offered for 11th graders on September 17th, 18th
& 19th . Ask your ES for
any resources available to help your student prepare for this exam. You can view released test questions from
previous tests by logging onto www. www.cde.ca.gov/statetests/cahsee/cahsee.html,
click on resources then click on released test questions. If you need assistance or have any
questions, please call the office.
