Student Enrollment

Thank you for contacting us about our charter school learning program.  We appreciate your interest in pursuing an education for your child at Connecting Waters Charter School.  Our charter school serves over 1,800 students in grades K-12 in eight counties throughout Central and Northern California, including Alameda, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Santa Clara, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties.

Connecting Waters Charter School is a public school operating with public educational funds. However, our public charter school is structured quite differently than the traditional non-charter, classroom-based public school.  The primary goal of our charter school is to maximize learning opportunities for students, and to guarantee that our students can master the state standards and the necessary skills to succeed in the workplace of today and tomorrow.  Our charter school allows for wide differences in student learning styles, abilities, and interests that are difficult to accommodate in a traditional classroom school setting.  Unlike a traditional public school, parents help to tailor the learning environment to the individual needs of their children.  Because of our school's unique system, a "one-size-fits-all" curriculum is not mandated, and parents remain the authority of any material affecting their children's attitudes, values, and beliefs.  Through your individually assigned Education Specialist (ES), and extensive online information systems, we provide training for our parents in curriculum choices, learning styles, computer literacy and other areas as needed.  Our Education Specialists are credentialed teachers who oversee each student's educational progress.

To begin our enrollment process, please fill out the enrollment form found at www.connectingwaters.org/Enrollment/index.htm and return it to 1166 Broadway, Suite Q, Placerville, CA 95667, so that we may begin processing your application.  The following copies MUST be attached with your application:

1)      Birth Certificate

2)      Immunization Record

3)      Report of Health Exam for School Entry (For 1st grade)

4)      Report of Oral Health Exam for School Entry (For Kindergarten and 1st grade students who did not attend Kindergarten)

5)      Transcript (if high school level)

6)      CAHSEE scores (11th & 12th grade)

7)      Most recent active/inactive IEP (for Special Education Students only)

If you would like an Immunization and or Health Waiver, please print your child's name on the front and sign the Personal Beliefs Affidavit in the box on the back of the Immunization Record.  Applications are processed in the order they are received according to teacher availability in your geographic area.  You will be called and interviewed to set up an intake appointment where you will meet with one of our Intake Specialists to discuss the enrollment requirements of our school.  The Intake Specialist will also assess your student and discuss the various educational options for your child.  However, the student is not officially enrolled until they are assigned and contacted by the ES who will be their teacher. The ES will contact you to set up a time to meet where he/she can further explain the various educational options available for your child and individualize your student’s educational curriculum plan. At that time you will make the final decision as to whether you wish to enroll your child in our school.  Do not withdraw your child from his/her current school until you have met with your ES and are officially enrolled.

Twice a school year educational resource funds are allotted to an account managed by your ES on behalf of your child.  Together, you and your ES determine how best to use these funds for your child's education.  These funds may be used to provide curriculum, computers, and other learning tools for use while attending our school.  They may also be used to facilitate a variety of educational alternatives for your child.  Your ES will explain these different options to you when you meet in person the first time.  All provided materials are the property of Connecting Waters Charter School, and must be returned to the school when you graduate or transfer to another school.

Feel free to browse our website at www.connectingwaters.org to learn more about our school.  Thank you again for your interest in Connecting Waters Charter School and we look forward to working with you to meet your child's educational needs.
