Computer Ordering and Tracking

 

Current Computer Choices

Currently, all CWCS computers are ordered from Dell and Apple**.  POs are made using FRED just as with other curriculum. All orders must be paid for in one payment, as there are no computer leases available. The computers will be shipped directly to the ES to be delivered to the family. When the computer is received, the order needs to be marked into the database as received, with one additional step: Once the computer is received, the ES must enter the serial number in FRED by going to go to "view" materials, and clicking on the "serial numbers" tab. The serial number is typically indicated on a label on the equipment by the words "Serial No","S/N", or something similar. The Dell Serial number may also be labeled the "service tag" number on the computer, if so, enter the service tag number in the serial number space. You may then print a copy of the PO to take to your family along with the computer for warranty needs. The PO will have a phone number for the parents to call as the computer supplier will work directly with the parent.

 

**The computer quotes are on the password protected section of the school website (password in FRED, and is same as HQT page). Please do not print out the list of available computer systems as they may change regularly depending on the information received from each vendor. The web page will be your accurate, up-to-the minute source for this information.

 

Computer Tracking Form

 

Remember that every family/student who receives a school computer MUST SIGN a Computer Equipment Tracking form prior to a computer system being left in their home:

 

- Form found in FRED: View Materials/grey “detail” button next to the parent code/the Computer Equipment Tracking form is a yellow button on the bottom right of the detail view. (It may take up to 3 days for the computer to appear on your materials list once you have marked the PO as received. The CET form will not be available until it appears on your list. The transfer occurs in the database automatically every 3 days.)

 

-After you have filled out the form with the parents and filed it in your student files, check the Computer Equipment Tracking (CET) button on the Materials detail screen for each computer system a family has checked out to them.(small yellow button on top left). Please go back and check each family's materials list for computers, then check the box (select the "X" from the dropdown list) if you have the CET form in your possession. If you do not have a current CET form, please print one from FRED and have the family sign it ASAP. You can do a quick view of which families have a signed CET from your main materials FRED page, but you cannot enter the check on that layout.

 

-When a student drops from the school, the computer must be checked to see if it is in working order, and the ES should follow the directions in Ordered Materials and Missing Materials, and consult with their Advisor, if the computer is not working.
